As the smoke curls upward, we keep talking until we find a new topic, and then another, and another, as if we could delay parting indefinitely. And in those moments, I wonder: if the last puff truly signals the end of our time together, could an infinitely long cigarette stretch that time out, prolonging the moment of farewell? If only this playful wish could come true, I imagine the cigarette burning down slowly, defying the passage of time, and allowing us to stay together for eternity.
